Press Release: Trustmarque Group’s Gender Pay Gap Decreases

York, UK – 04 April 2025: Today, the Trustmarque Group has released its Gender Pay Gap Report 2024, detailing progress in developing a more inclusive and equitable workplace. Under the leadership of Simon Williams, Chief Executive Officer and with initiatives led by Marsha Waugh Lewis, Chief People Officer, Trustmarque has made considerable progress in promoting gender diversity and empowering women across the business.

The headlines: April 2023 vs April 2024

  1. Significant improvement in the gender pay gap: The mean gender pay gap has decreased from 35.01% in 2023, to 19.59% in 2024. Similarly, the median gender pay gap has also decreased.
  2. Pay quartiles indicate positive changes: The percentages of women in the upper and upper middle quartiles have increased.
  3. Gender distribution has increased: There has been a slight increase in the percentage of women from 32% in 2023, to 33% in 2024.

Commenting on the report, Simon Williams added:

“I am incredibly proud of the strides we have made at Trustmarque Group. The latest Gender Pay Gap Report 2024 highlights our commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable workplace. In my second year as CEO, women now represent 40% of our senior leadership team – a significant milestone.”

Marsha Waugh Lewis, Chief People Officer at the Trustmarque Group added:

“We stand firmly by our DEI commitments and our latest Gender Pay Gap report is an important measure for us to understand where we need to focus our efforts and drive change. I am delighted to say that due to investment in women and their growth, our mean gender pay gap has fallen by 15%.”

Progress at Trustmarque

The latest report highlights Trustmarque’s efforts to reduce the gender pay gap and promote diversity. Significant strides have been made in increasing the number of women in senior roles through promotion and targeted talent sourcing. Our hiring practices now include intentionally crafting inclusive job postings and training managers in inclusive hiring, alongside partnering with agencies that commit to supporting our goals on diversity.

In April 2024, we made the most of our annual pay review, where we gave a higher percentage uplift to colleagues in lower paid roles. This proactive approach supported those who would have been worst hit by cost-of-living increases, regardless of gender, and will have had a significant impact for women in the lower quartile. Enhanced life policies were introduced, including a new menopause policy and paid time-off for fertility treatment. Maternity and adoption leave policies increased from 15 to 20 weeks.

Learning and Development

The development opportunities for women at Trustmarque have seen significant improvements in 2023 and 2024. Our Learning and Development team has introduced Elevate, the first-ever internal mentoring programme aimed at supporting the growth and development of women across the organisation.

Of the 60 leaders who have taken part in LEAD, Trustmarque’s flagship leadership development programme, 22 (36%) are women. LEAD is specifically designed to build the skills and qualities needed in the company’s best business leaders to help deliver optimal business outcomes and grow senior talent.
