Trustmarque achieves UK Cisco Environmental Sustainability Specialisation

16 August 2022 Time to read:  minutes

As of 16 August 2022, Trustmarque has achieved the Environmental Sustainability Specialisation through the Cisco Partner Program.

The distinction indicates that our Enterprise Connectivity division has successfully completed exams and courses created to help partners operationalise environmental sustainability practices in the IT sector.

Addressing the universal challenge of climate change requires a comprehensive, multifaceted, and multi-agency response. With more than 400 employees across the UK, Trustmarque is mindful of our responsibility to minimise our impact on the environment. That’s why we are delighted to have qualified for Cisco’s Environmental Sustainability Specialisation, a small step in a bigger picture of tackling landfill and technology waste within the IT and technology sector.

What does Cisco’s Environmental Sustainability Specialisation involve?

Unveiled at the Cisco Partner Summit 2021, Cisco introduced a brand-new Environmental Sustainability Specialisation for partners in line with its updated net zero targets. Cisco is committed to moving from a linear economy, where products are used and thrown away, to a circular economy that makes better use of our limited natural resources.

Through programs like “take back and reuse,” Cisco have pledged to make sure anything that comes from a customer’s network can be shipped back so it can be reused, recycled or purposed. No additional cost will be incurred by the customer and the returns are unlimited, as Andrew Sage, Cisco’s VP of global distribution sales and Cisco Circular Economy executive sponsor explained earlier this year:

“I wanted to make it as easy as taking your recycling to the end of the driveway. We want to make this process as easy as possible over time so that we have as many partners involved as possible.”

Andrew Sage, VP of global distribution sales, Cisco

Commenting on the specialisation, Rick Ure, Enterprise Connectivity Practice Director at Trustmarque added:

“We know there’s much more that needs to be done, but Trustmarque is delighted to take this first step with Cisco towards a sustainable product lifecycle. There’s no plan B, and we hope that we’ve ignited a circular product process to reduce our carbon impact and become more sustainable. Our customers will join us and Cisco to reuse, recycle, or refurbish end-of-life products instead of simply disposing of them.”
